Everything you want to know about VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) Smart LED TV (D48f-E0)

By our senior writer: Pippa Cooper

I've been wanting to write this piece for a long time. And now I finally get to write the in-depth review of the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P)! I, Pippa Cooper, am used to write about electronics, because I have done so for years. You have hopefully seen my articles about the Men's X-Temp with Fresh IQ Short Sleeve T-Shirt by Amazon and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Unlocked Phone 128GB, Ocean Blue with All-new Echo Show (2nd Generation) by Amazon. I also did a big piece on the Dell G5 Gaming Laptop 15.6", Intel Core i7-8750H, Nvidia Geforce 1050Ti GTX, G5587-7037RED-PUS - Gaming Bundle Included. So you might say I have the know-how to be writing about electronics. So naturally I was very happy when I got this product in the mail!

Introduction

Since 2012 I've been watching Sony1 so I am really excited that I am finally able to try the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) and writing this review for you guys. While searching for the best deal on this product I stumbled across this offer on Walmart (You can buy it here.) and I immediately jumped on the opportunity. So I got my creditcard out and placed my order. With the standard same day delivery and free shipping it really is a bargain compared to the competitor brands and retailers. Later that day when my VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) was delivered I opened it and was overjoyed with what I saw. I might sound a bit biassed being a longtime Sony customer but this product really steps it up quite a bit, which is immediately noticeable when opening the package. Now that I've been testing it for a couple of days now I feel like I know enough about the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) to write this review. So keep reading and I will show you why I am so enthusiastic about my brand new VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P).

Best VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) Smart LED TV (D48f-E0) deal

Summary

I always start my reviews about electronics with a summary, then a clear list of the pros and cons after which I'll give my rating and conclusion. So as you may have understood from the intro, I am blown away by the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P). Sony has really outdone itself on this one. The quality is great, and frankly; it just looks awesome. I know aesthetics aren't everything with electronics, but it just needs to be said. Of course the price I got at Walmart was and is unbeatable so make sure to check them out when you decide to buy one yourself. As I have tried many alternatives before, I really got to say they are no match for the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P). Just the functionalities alone beats all competitors and the durability also seems to be top notch. The customer service of Sony2 is famous for being really generous so if you ever run in to any kind of problem with their products they're always really lenient with finding a solution. Long story short; not much negative to say about the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) Smart LED TV (D48f-E0) really. Make sure to read to the end tho because you might be in for a small surprise!

Pros

This pros list of the VIZIO 48" Class FHD (1080P) could be much longer, and is way longer than the conslist, but the description3 this site has will probably already say it all. Here is just a little piece: "

Stunning picture and easy set-up

Stunning picture quality. Broadcast signal from major networks looks close to 4K image and streaming video achieves full quality with a 20Mbps Internet using the built in WiFi link (even with a simultaneous HDTV stream on another TV. The printed documentation is enough to get the device through its highly automated setup, but there are many unanswered questions about details and advanced features that are only addressed by the online guides that are a bit of a chore to access and navigate. I expect to keep discovering new features and a few limitations over time, but it works stunningly well right out of the box. A brief example is an attempt to use Amazon Prime streaming video took a few extra minutes to determine that"Amazon" is omitted from the menu of available providers (it is just Prime) and I have not yet found a way to retain an icon for Prime in the onscreen menu, but it appears first now as a choice if I go to select new apps and launches with a single click at that point.

Needs more immediate instructions

I recently bought a 50" Samsung 'smart' ultra-high definition TV ( model UN50MU6300FXZA). I found the lack of immediate, reasonably complete instructions very frustrating. Only when I downloaded the complete instruction manual from the Samsung website was I able to understand and adjust needed functions. For instance, the overall brightness of the picture was initially poor. Only when I learned how to use the menu to get to the picture type (e.g., 'standard', 'movie') was I able to get close to what I had experienced on past Samsung TV's. My initial attempts with the voice command of 'brightness' failed to allow much adjustment. As TV's get more and more complicated it will be harder and harder for an ordinary, non-technical user to figure things out without the detailed manual. (I finally resorted to printing out the entire 138 page detailed instruction manual to have as a handy nearby reference for future problems like the one I initially encountered.)

Amazing TV for the price and features

I bought this TV at the end of last year and have thoroughly loved the picture quality and the smart tv functionality. I use my MacBook Pro in my recliner connected to the TV and enjoy the super clear amazing screen when I work from home. We use DirectTV and it automatically recognized my receiver, and the remote works flawlessly, whether I'm on DirectTV, Netflix, etc. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for an inexpensive smart TV with excellent picture, sound, and features.
